Invisalign treatment
Invisalign treatment has become an extraordinarily popular solution for cosmetic dental problems.
They cover the teeth like a very thin gumshield and they are translucent, making it unlikely that other people will detect you are wearing them.
One of the main benefits is that you can remove aligners to eat, so your diet won’t be restricted during your course of treatment.
You will, however, have to be just as diligent with your oral hygiene, which means brushing and flossing after each meal, and you will need to wear the aligners for 22 hours a day, only removing them to eat.
Treatment begins with a computer model of how our specialist orthodontist wants your teeth to move, which is then used to produce a series of aligners that you wear for one week each.
After your initial assessment your specialist orthodontist will discuss with you at length the position of your teeth and jaw, and the overall condition of your teeth and gums.
In some cases they may refer you to have other treatment first — if, for example you have gum disease that will need to be cleared up in order for your orthodontic treatment to have the best chance of success.
Sometimes they may strongly recommend another type of orthodontic treatment because they have identified a need for deeper, comprehensive adjustments that cannot be made reliably with aligners.
Our specialist orthodontists will only recommend treatments they know will work for you according to their evidence-based practice because they want you to receive long term results and avoid the need for further orthodontic treatment in the future.
Why not ask one of our specialist orthodontists if aligners are the right way to improve your smile?
