Adult Orthodontic Treatment Options
If you think you could benefit from straighter teeth the first thing we will do is give you an assessment with a specialist orthodontist and establish whether you require simple or comprehensive treatment.
Simple treatment is largely reserved for minor problems where the basic function of your dentition (the way your teeth fit together) is close to ideal and where just minor adjustments need to be made to improve the appearance of your teeth.
Comprehensive treatment is a lot more involved and aims for the most ideal treatment outcome where your upper and lower sets of teeth are perfectly aligned and function correctly.
We offer two types of invisible braces — the first, lingual braces, use wires and brackets like traditional braces, the difference being that they go on the inside of the teeth next to the tongue. They can be used in reasonably complex orthodontic cases.
Another type is removable aligners — these are worn for two weeks at a time over about a year to fix minor orthodontic problems, and they can be removed for cleaning.
Fixed braces remain the most common type of orthodontic treatment and studies show that in 85 per cent of cases they deliver long lasting success. At Embrace we offer ceramic fixed braces which are subtler in appearance than the traditional stainless steel alternative.
