After obtaining the Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University Of Wales College Of Medicine 1996, Matthew undertook Dental Vocational Training before gaining further experience of NHS General Dental Practice in Porth, South Wales.
After completing several positions as a senior house officer he embarked on a PhD in the field of periodontal cell biology. This provided the stepping stone to progress a five year specialist clinical training programme in Restorative Dentistry which was completed in October 2008.
Matthew is registered with the General Dental Council as a specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontics and is a member of the British Society of Periodontology.
His first Consultant position was spent working in Restorative Dentistry at Morriston Hospital, Swansea. He now works as a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff Dental School. In 2014 he became Lead for the undergraduate Periodontology teaching and in 2015 began the role as Director of Dental Hygiene and Therapy programmes delivered through Cardiff University.
